Teacher Recruitment and the Right Career Choice: Parents’ Perceptions of the Teaching Profession in Oman

This study aimed to identify why students are reluctant choose teaching as a career in the Sultanate of Oman from parents’ perceptions. It also verify whether there were statistically significant gender differences perceptions profession. Using quantitative research design, applied questionnaire sample 2,519 parents, whom 66.7% males and 33.3% females. The results indicated that reasons for reluctance choosing teach centred on difficulty career, lack financial incentives compared workload, teachers’ low social status other professions. revealed favour females perspective students’ parents. is recommended parents should respect their children’s choice future professions desire be teachers. In addition, Ministry Education must make efforts an attractive again.
